So you walk into a power tools store thinking you want a drill machine. You are okay with the pricing you see on the shelf, its features and specifcations. Your next question would be "shlonil kafala?" meaning what is the warranty like? There are some who would say 3 or 6months against pre set conditions while others would say life time which is very rare. My concern is, do warranty terms really mean anything?

In the tools industry, one thing is for sure: How you use the tool and its subsequent effects on the machine goes a long way too. Now, your power tool you choose has parts called carbon brushes, armatures and field coils and all of them wear out after a certain period of time. Experts estimate 120 hours of usage. It is worth noting, that certain community of workers literally press hard on the machine just to drill a hole quicker. There are those who treat their machines nicely.  So is there a fair usage policy? The answer is, let the technician decide if you have used it fairly or no.

Power tool companies just love to increase the "population" of their tools in the market. The more the tools, and more are the chances of a repair. This is where they have a chance to impress their customers. If you feel your tools are under warranty and deserve a free repair, think again! The workshop that will receive your machine to repair it, is out there to impress you. He will go to any heights to keep you happy and at the same time minimize your costs. So where does the argument end? Well, yes warranty terms do mean something if the technician is satisfied that the tools have worn out fairly. If not, I think it would not be fair to demand a free repair come what may. Remember, you have spent your hard earned money on buying that tool. If it stops working, generally most technicians in Shuwaikh will make all the efforts to ensure you dont overspend in trying to repair it. These technicians are experts and can accurately predict how far your machine will last even after a repair.
